1980 Canadian Grand Prix

The 1980 Canadian Grand Prix was a Formula One motor race held on September 28, 1980 at the Montreal Circuit in Canada. It was the thirteenth race of the 1980 Formula One season.

• Milestones:
• 50th Race Entry - Jean-Pierre Jabouille
• Lap Leaders:
• Alan Jones 49 laps (1-2 and 24-70)
• Nelson Piquet 21 laps (3-23)
• Race stopped after first lap pile-up and restarted for original distance.
• Pironi finished first but was deducted a minute for a jump start.
• Jones's win and Piquet's failure to make the podium guaranteed the Driver's Championship for Jones with one race left.
• This race marked one of the rare occasions where a Ferrari failed to qualify.
• Alain Prost was running third for much of his race until his suspension failed on lap 42.
• Jean-Pierre Jabouille heavily crashed his Renault and was severely injured, he missed the final race at Watkins Glen.
