Aa Gale Lag Jaa (English language:Come, Embrace me) is a 1973 Hindi romantic film directed by Manmohan Desai based on a story by Smt. Jeevanprabha M. Desai. Starring Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore and Shatrughan Sinha.

The film became a box office hit.

Sushma Shreshta received a Filmfare nomination as Best Female Playback Singer for the song "Tera Mujhse Hai." Her nomination is the only Filmfare nomination for the film.This movie is noted for its wonderful hit songs and was a hit. It had music by R.D. Burman with lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi.The famous song Jaane Tu Ya........Jaane Na which was also sung in the movie of the same name is from this movie.

Summary

Preeti lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bombay along with her widower dad, Heerachand, and is a medical student. While on a trip to Simla, she meets and falls in love with a Casanova, Prem, and both get intimate. As Prem asks Heerachand for his daughter's hand in marriage, the latter refuses, on the ground that he (Heerachand) does not consider him (Prem) worthy of her. As Prem challenges Heerachand regarding his daughter's love for him, he leaves Preeti a note, explaining that her father refused the alliance and he was headed to meet his mother, who was urgently sick.
