Ahmed Parvez (1926, Rawalpindi, Pakistan - 1979) was a Pakistani modernist painter whose work was marked with energy. He was member of The Lahore Group in Pakistan and founder member of the Pakistan Group in London.

He was one of the most remarkable artists produced by Pakistan and he received widespread acclaim in Pakistan and abroad.

1952 to 1955

His first solo exhibition was held in 1952.

Life in UK

Between 1955 and 1964, he lived and worked in London, UK.

Life in USA

He spent two years in the USA in the 1960s before returning home. During this time he exhibited at Galerie Internationale in New York.


He received the President’s Medal for Pride of Performance in 1978.

Postage stamp

On 14 August 2006, Pakistan Post issued a Rs. 40 sheetlet of stamps to posthumously honour 10 Pakistani painters. Besides Ahmed Parvez, the other nine painters were: Laila Shahzada, Askari Mian Irani, Sadequain, Ali Imam, Shakir Ali, Anna Molka Ahmed, Zahoor ul Akhlaq, Zubeida Agha and Bashir Mirza.
