Description:
Alfonso of Aragon (1481 – 18 August 1500) was the Duke of Bisceglie and Prince of Salerno, as the son of King Alfonso II of Naples by his mistress Truzia Gazzela (whom Alfonso II later married as his second wife).

On 29 June 1498, he married Lucrezia Borgia, the daughter of Pope Alexander VI of the Borgias and Vannozza dei Cattanei of the House of Candia. On 15 July 1500, he was attacked in the Piazza of St. Peter's Basilica on his way home. He survived and was cared for by Alexander VI's doctors, as well by his wife and his sister Sancha of Aragon. On 18 August 1500, while recovering from his wounds, he was strangled in his bed. His brother-in-law, Cesare Borgia, is widely considered to be the man behind his assassination.
