Alina Astafei (known before 1995 as Galina Astafei; born June 7, 1969 in Bucharest) is a German and formerly Romanian track and field athlete. In the 1990s she was one of the world's best high jumpers.


Astafei's biggest success is the silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, where she jumped over 2.00 metres. She represented Romania at those games. She first jumped over 2 metres in 1988, her personal best was 2.01 metres in 1995.

On January 9, 1995, she left the Romanian track and field association and since March 1, 1995, she has had German citizenship. Alina Astafei represented USC Mainz (1995–1997) and MTG 1899 Mannheim (coached by Constantin Dumitrescu; Since 1998; Trainer: Dan Vladescu). While she was active she was 1.81 metres tall and weighed 60 kg.
