Amanda's (also known as Amanda's by the Sea) is an American sitcom inspired by the popular 1970s British sitcomFawlty Towers. Amanda's aired on ABC from February 10, 1983 to May 26, 1983.
Synopsis
Beatrice Arthur starred as the main character, Amanda Cartwright, a role similar to the Maude Findlay character she portrayed on Maude from 1972 to 1978. Amanda was the owner of a seaside hotel called "Amanda's by the Sea" whose staff included her son Marty (Fred McCarren), his spoiled wife Arlene (Simone Griffeth), Earl the chef (Rick Hurst) and Aldo the bellhop (Tony Rosato).
Amanda's was cancelled in May 1983 after a four-month run and ten episodes (three more episodes remained unaired). This was Beatrice Arthur's first return to series television since Maude went off the air in 1978.
