Banswada is a town and a
mandal in the
Nizamabad district in the state of
Andhra Pradesh in
India. Banswada is the fifth biggest town in the district of Nizamabad. The
Manjeera River flows in 3 km west of Banswada.
History
The name is derived from the ancient name, Mahisawada ("the ancient Indian epic, The
Mahabarata. Part of the story takes place in Mahishapuram").(in chronological order):
Geography
Banswada is located at . It has an average elevation of 371 meters (1220 feet).
Transportation
Banswada is situated on Hyderabad-Bodhan State Highway No. 6. The town is 168 km east of
Karimnagar; 50 km west of
Degloor (
Maharastra); 68 km north of
Basara; 50 km north of
Nizamabad; and 167 km south of
Hyderabad, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh. There is no train service to Banswada. The nearest railway stations are at Nizamabad, Bodhan and
Kamareddy.
