Banswada

<!-- See WikiProject Indian cities for details -->Banswada is a town and a mandal in the Nizamabad district in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. Banswada is the fifth biggest town in the district of Nizamabad. The Manjeera River flows in 3&nbsp;km west of Banswada.

History

The name is derived from the ancient name, Mahisawada ("the ancient Indian epic, The Mahabarata. Part of the story takes place in Mahishapuram").(in chronological order):

Geography

Banswada is located at . It has an average elevation of 371 meters (1220&nbsp;feet).

Transportation

Banswada is situated on Hyderabad-Bodhan State Highway No. 6. The town is 168&nbsp;km east of Karimnagar; 50&nbsp;km west of Degloor (Maharastra); 68&nbsp;km north of Basara; 50&nbsp;km north of Nizamabad; and 167&nbsp;km south of Hyderabad, the state capital of Andhra Pradesh. There is no train service to Banswada. The nearest railway stations are at Nizamabad, Bodhan and Kamareddy.

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) operates bus services from Banswada to Adilabad, Hanumakonda, Hyderabad , Kakinada and Warangal.
