in Mayurbhanj district
in the state of Odisha
. Baripada is the district headquarters. It is an excellent place to stay and tour the Mayurbhanj region, a region with one of the most important wildlife parks of India

, used to run his free leprosy treatment home and activities from Baripada.He was burnt alive in January 1999 along with his two minor children by a Hindu zealot Dara Singh on charges of conversion to Christianity. He is survived by his wife & daughter.
