Barry Knight (born May 7, 1960, Orpington, Kent reference: BBC.co.uk article.) is an English football referee, who officiates in the Premier League. Since January 2008 he has been unable to officiate for them, due to injury. in first Football League game back in 2008: match report at the Telegraph and Argus (Bradford) website.

Career

Knight first took up the whistle in 1978, and in 1991 he became a Southern League referee.

In 1995 he was promoted to the list of referees for the Football League.: Premier League Official website.

He was included on the FA Premier League list of referees from 1999. His first appointment in this competition was the game between Wimbledon and Middlesbrough on 10 August 1999 at Selhurst Park - a 2-3 away win. FA Premier League match: soccerbase.com website.

In May 2000 during a highly controversial Division One Play-off semi-final between Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town at Portman Road he handed out 12 yellow cards and two red cards to Mike Whitlow and Robbie Elliott of Bolton with not a single card to Ipswich and also saw fit to award Ipswich three penalties..
