Bashir Badr (born on 30 April 1945) is an Indian acclaimed poet of
Urdu.
Early life
Bashir Badr was born in
Kanpur, India. His full name is Syed Mohammad Bashir.
During his Masters progarm he was made to study one of his own book.
Career
Bashir Badr has over 18,000 couplets to his name and many Urdu ghazals.
He has also been named the chairman of the Urdu Akademi, and is the most commonly sung and recited Urdu poet.
Personal life
Bashir Badr is married and has two sons and a daughter. One of his sons
Nusrat Badr is a Bollywood writer. He lives in
Bhopal.He is an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University. His disciple and famous poet Muslim Saleem, who got educated in Aligarh under Bashir Badr, also lives in Bhopal.
Awards
Badr was awarded the
Padma Shri in 1999 for contribution towards literature and Sangeet Natak Akademi. He was the recipient of the
Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu for his poetry collection
Aas in 1999.
