The BES was established in 1999 with the aim of offering secondary education through the English language in the Benghazi area.

The Benghazi European School offers at secondary school level an international, integrated educational programme. This programme is based on the guidance provided by the IBO and its Middle Year Programme (MYP).The BES curriculum links the different subjects and the world outside the school by means of the five areas of interaction which are the five central elements of the programme.
