Bhupinder Singh Hooda (; born 15 September 1947) is an Indian politician, a leader of the Indian National Congress and the current Chief Minister of Haryana. He became the chief minister of Haryana for the first time in March 2005. He created a history of sorts in the Haryana assembly elections of 2009, when Hooda led Congress to victory and again became the chief minister in October 2009. Since 1972, no party had returned to power in Haryana.

Early life

Bhupinder Singh Hooda was born to Choudhary Ranbir Singh, a renowned freedom fighter, in the village of Sanghi in the Rohtak district of Haryana, India.

He is an alumnus of Sainik School, Kunjpura. He did his B.A., LL.B. was educated at Panjab University, Chandigarh and the University of Delhi.

Political career

Previously, he was a Member of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) for four terms in 1991, 1996, 1998, 2004 and the Leader of Opposition in Haryana's Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2004. Ch. B.S.
