Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya also known as BVM is an autonomous engineering institution located in Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat, India. It is affiliated to Sardar Patel University. It is one of India's oldest engineering colleges in India and the first degree engineering college in the state of Gujarat, founded in 1948.
History
It was established in 1948 from donations made by the Birla Education Trust, and inaugurated by Lord Mountbatten, then the Governor General of India on 14th June 1948. The college rose to prominence under the stewardship of Prof. Junarkar and Prof. K.M. Dholakia. It is one of the few colleges in India that provides education using the credit system. The first engineering college in the State has so far awarded degrees to over sixteen thousand graduates. It is a grant aided engineering institution managed by Charutar Vidya Mandal .
