Bryan Ruiz González (born 18 August 1985 in San José), commonly known as Bryan Ruiz is a Costa Rican footballer who plays for Twente in the Eredivisie. He is an attacking all-rounder, known for his ball control, heading and passing.

Club career


He began his professional career playing for Alajuelense, in Costa Rica's top division, being only 18 years old. He soon formed a great trio with 2 of the best strikers the team has had in last couple of decades, Rolando Fonseca and Froylan Ledezma.He quickly built a reputation as a great goalscorer. He is also a great play maker, and was one of Alajuelense's best players in his last season with them. In that club, Bryan was nicknamed "la comadreja" (the weasel), due to his ability and his velocity when he controls the ball. He also helped win other regional titles such as the UNCAF Cup and the CONCACAF Champions' Cup.


In the summer of 2006, Ruiz was signed by K.A.A. Gent in 4-year deal along with Randall Azofeifa from Deportivo Saprissa.

He scored his first hat-trick playing for the Gent on December 8, 2007 against Lokeren. In that season in the Belgian League, He was the captain and top scorer for the team.
