Centre for Science and Environment
(CSE) is a not-for-profit
public interest research and advocacy organisation based in New Delhi, India. Established in 1980, CSE has been working on various environment-development issues in India, pushing for policy changes wherever required and better implementation of the already existing policies. CSE has adapted a strategy called knowledge-based activism to create awareness about problems and propose sustainable solutions.
With the growing population and water demand, it will become extremely difficult to raise financial resources to meet the water needs as well as to clean up the increasing levels of polluted water. Thus, water management, from water conservation to water pollution, must become everybody’s business.
CSE believes that the management of water is best undertaken at local levels, by the people, in tune with local physical and natural landscapes, and hence conducts training for a broad spectrum of people water management in the form of rain water harvesting
and decentralised waste water treatment
CSE's Industry and Environment Unit addresses an array of environmental issues related to Indian industries. It conducts research and advocacy on the impact of industrial pollution and provides training in related issues.
