Two singles were released from Chaka: "Life Is A Dance," and the smash empowerment anthem "I'm Every Woman" written by Ashford & Simpson. The song later became a hit for Whitney Houston (who sings backup on the original version and later had Khan sing on the remake, as a sort of thanks). Though uncharacteristic for the time period, music videos were shot for both songs.
On Billboard's charts, the album reached #2 on Black Albums, #12 on Pop Albums. Chaka finally saw a United States CD re-release in 1998 as part of the Warner Bros. Black Music Ol' Skool series.
