Charles John Pearson
(1843–1910) was a Scottish politician and judge.
Educated at
Corpus Christi College, Oxford
, he was called to the English and Scottish bars in 1870. He was knighted in 1887. He was
Sheriff
of
Renfrew
and
Bute
from 1888 and
Perthshire
from 1889. He was
Conservative
Member of Parliament
for
Edinburgh and St Andrews Universities
from 1890 to 1896. He was appointed a
Queen's Counsel
in 1890.
He held office in
Salisbury
's administrations as
Solicitor General for Scotland
from 1890 to 1891, and as
Lord Advocate
from 1891 to 1892 and again from 1895 to 1896. He was appointed a
Privy Counsellor
in 1891. He was appointed a
Senator of the College of Justice
, as Lord Pearson, in 1896.
