Christian Estrosi (born July 1, 1955 in
Nice) is a French politician of Italian origin, member of the French Parliament (
National Assembly of France), mayor of
Nice since 2008. He is a supporter of
Nicolas Sarkozy.
From 2009 to 2010, he was Minister for Industry in
François Fillon's government. He was also
President of the general council for the
Alpes-Maritimes département until December 2008.
Prior to his career in politics, Estrosi competed in
Grand Prix motorcycle road racing. His best result was a fourth place finish in the
1978 500cc
French Grand Prix.
