Damir "Dado" Polumenta (
Montenegrin:
Dado Polumenta, Дадо Полумента; born 29 August 1982 in
Bijelo Polje,
SR Montenegro,
Yugoslavia) is a popular
Montenegrin singer/songwriter in the
Balkans, currently living in his hometown, Bijelo Polje. His uncle,
Šako Polumenta, also a singer, has helped Dado's music career. Dado is ethnic
Bosniak.
Music career
His first album,
Jasmina, released in year 2000 for
Best Records, brought little success in his career. However, after a four-year hiatus, Dado became prominent in the Ex-Yugoslav music industry after the release of his second album "100 stepeni" in 2005 for
Grand Production.
Controversy and comeback
Dado suffered poor coverage and was widely infamous for use of drugs and his addiction. Dado has a son (Dorijan) with
Slovenian model
Anamarija Kikoš, with whom he has lived for three years. She was his unmarried partner at the time but they broke up shortly after the child was born.
In due course, he left Grand Production and, through his uncle, signed with Gold Music. Soon after, he released his third album,
Volim te... in 2007. Shortly after the release of his third album, he won the award for "Best Montenegrin Singer in the Diaspora" at Montefolk Festival 2007, as well as the "Oscar of Popularity" in
Podgorica for his contribution in the popularization of Montenegrin music in the diaspora.
