Dadri is a city and a
municipal board in
Gautam Buddha Nagar District in the state of
Uttar Pradesh,
India.

Dadri played a very important role in the battle for freedom in 1857, when its
Gujjar (Gurjars) ruler "Raja Umrao Singh Bhati" rose against British rule and damaged the same by joining together the other
Gujjar rulers of the area. He was hanged along with 4 other mutineers by the British. But nothing is found in any texts about him and his sacrifice.
It has a power station owned and operated by
National Thermal Power Corporation that generates about 840 MW of electric power by means of coal fired thermal power plant and 830 MW of electric power generated by the gas fired plant. Two new units of 490 MW each have come up at the same plant in the year 2010. This plant is also the home to a big switchyard with the power handling capacity of more than 5000 MW.
