Description:
Dahme (also: Dahme/Mark) is a town in the Teltow-Fläming district of Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated on the Dahme River, 30 km southeast of Luckenwalde, and 38 km west of Lübbenau.

Overview

According to the BBC documentary series " A Warning From History" episode titled "The Nazis: Fighting to the End," in 1945 much of the town was flattened by the Red Army in reprisal for earlier Nazi German excesses in the Soviet Union ---and an estimated 900 civilians drowned themselves in the Dahme River to escape the oppression and war rapes by the occupying Soviet forces.
