• Gottlieb Daimler (1834–1900), German automobile inventor

Business co-founded by Gottlieb Daimler

• Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft, co-founded by Gottlieb Daimler; maker of Mercedes vehicles (1890–1926). Merged with Benz & Cie., maker of Benz vehicles (1871–1926), in 1926 forming:

* Daimler-Benz AG, maker of Mercedes-Benz vehicles (1926–1998)

* DaimlerChrysler AG, former maker of Mercedes-Benz vehicles following the buyout<br>of Chrysler Corp. of the USA (1998&ndash;2007)

• Daimler AG, maker of Mercedes-Benz vehicles following the divestiture of<br>Chrysler in 2007

The Daimler Motor Company of Coventry, England, manufacturer of Daimler motor vehicles from 1896. From 1910 a part of the BSA group. From 1960 a subsidiary, and after 1964 a brand, of Jaguar Cars.

This company held warrants as purveyor of official motor cars to Kings Edward VII, George V, George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.

It also provided official cars to many foreign monarchs including:<br>the Kaiser, the Emperor of Japan and the King of Thailand.
