Description:
General Daniel Stewart (December 20, 1761 - May 27, 1829) was a brigadier general in the Georgia Militia. He joined the militia in 1776 and served during the American Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.

Stewart was the great-grandfather of Theodore Roosevelt.

Political career

He served as a state representative from 1785 to 1787, Liberty County, Georgia sheriff from 1795 to 1797, and state senator for three terms between 1802 and 1811.

Eponymous places

Fort Stewart and Stewart County, Georgia are named after Daniel Stewart.
