Danny Lee Wynter (born 25 May 1982) is an English actor best known for his performance as Joe in Stephen Poliakoff's collection of films Joe's Palace and Capturing Mary.


Lee Wynter was born in Essex. His mother is of Italian Catholic ancestry and his father of Jamaican descent.

Educated at Beal High School in Redbridge, Essex, Lee Wynter went on to study Clown and Mask under the theatre practitioner John Wright at North London's Middlesex University.

He attended The London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art, LAMDA, graduating in 2006.

Television credits include Stephen Poliakoff's 2006 collection of dramas Joe's Palace and Capturing Mary (in which he played the lead character, Joe, opposite Sir Michael Gambon and Dame Maggie Smith), the BBC television series Luther, Lynda La Plante's crime drama Trial & Retribution, the television series Holby City, and in film Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz.

His work in theatre includes the Fool in King Lear opposite David Calder, Henry IV Parts 1 & 2 (all for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre), L'Avare (The Miser) for The Royal Exchange Theatre Company, Debussy's Opera The Fall of The House of Usher for The Riverside Studios, Bedlam, The Frontline, A Doll's House, and The Changing Room (a production he appeared in with his graduating drama school year at London's Royal Court Theatre).
