vocalist, best known as the lead singer for Headpins
. The band's hits included "Don't It Make You Feel", "Celebration", "Just One More Time", and "Line of Fire". She had a solo hit in 1992 with "Give it All Up".
Born in Vernon, British Columbia, Mills began singing back-up vocals for Canadian bands in the 1970s, most notably, the very popular local BC band, Steelback.
After signing on with the Headpins in 1981, the group began a three-album run at the top of the Canadian charts, and backed bands such as KISS
, and Aerosmith
, among others.
She helped make the Lock Up Your Sons tour in the mid-1980s.
She released her debut solo LP, Never Look Back
, which contained her hit "Give it All Up," in 1991 on WEA Records, backed by the Unsung Heroes
She returned to re-form the Headpins with Bernie Aubin
and Ab Bryant
a year or so later, without guitarist Brian MacLeod
. The band has been a fixture on the tour circuit ever since. In 2005 her name was nominated for a star on Canada's Walk of Fame.
