Discovery Networks Europe is a subsidiary of Discovery Networks International. It was established in 1989 with the launch of the Discovery Channel for Europe.
Discovery Networks Europe is based in Chiswick, London, UK. Discovery Networks Europe also hosts regional offices throughout Europe including Amsterdam, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm and Warsaw. Discovery Networks Europe also provides some of this material to its American sister network with 20% of Discovery Communications' output provided by the European network.
The networks in the UK and Ireland used to be part of Discovery Networks Europe, but were split off to form Discovery Networks UK in 2007.
As of the second quarter of 2009, Discovery Networks Europe operate 40 channels with 13 brands in 24 languages reaching 210 million cumulative subscribers in 105 countries.
