The
Dumbarton Express is a California bus service operating between Union City
BART station and Palo Alto
Caltrain station via the
Dumbarton Bridge. It is operated by a group of operators including
BART,
VTA,
Union City Transit and
AC Transit. It is coloured orange and designated "DB" on
VTA system maps.The bus service charges $1.75 for an adult local fare, $4.00 for a transbay fare, and $1.75 for a Transbay extension of a pass that is good only for local fares. Half-fares are charged for children, seniors and disabled persons. VTA ECO Passes are accepted for full Transbay fare, as are AC Transit Transbay passes or ten-ride tickets. Within the East Bay, AC Transit tickets, passes and transfers are accepted for a full local fare or half a Transbay fare, as are those from Union City Transit, and
Caltrain monthly passes of two or more zones. BART Plus tickets were taken for a local fare but are no longer accepted on the Dumbarton Express. BART passengers without a valid pass for the Dumbarton Express (DB) bus must pay full fare. Within the Peninsula, passes from SamTrans, VTA, and Caltrain are accepted, though the same rules governing Caltrain passes on the East Bay apply. The U.C. Berkeley Class Pass is accepted for all Transbay or local fares except the Dumbarton Express.
