El Rosario is a small town on the west coast of the state of Baja California on Highway 1, 61 kmsouth of San Quintín and 119 km north of Cataviña. The census of 2010 reported a population of 1,704 inhabitants. It is part of the Municipio of Ensenada.

Features:El Rosario is the last PEMEX gas stop before heading into the Guerro Negro mountains. Be sure to fill up before heading South on Mexico's Hwy 1 (Careterra Transpeninsular or Transpeninsular Highway). You will find a roadside fuel stop in Cataviña, however it is NOT a PEMEX and you aren't sure what you are getting for your money, it's just a couple of guys and a truck or trailer with fuel cans.

The town is primarily agricultural, with the major crop being onions. There are several nearby fishing camps. The fishing off Punta Baja has been teriffic this year (2009) with near record catches of Calico Bass, you will also find White Sea Bass, Halibut & Ling Cod in abundance.
