The
Falconcity of Wonders, announced in 2005, is a project being built in
Dubai that will feature life-size replicas of the
seven wonders of the world such as the
Egyptian pyramids, the
Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and other famous monuments such as the
Eiffel Tower, the
Taj Mahal and the
Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is a part of
Dubailand, covering an area of with an estimated cost of $1.5-billion. The project is led by Falconcity of Wonders Company, owned by local businessman Mr. Salem Al Moosa. FCW was designed to resemble the UAE national emblem, the falcon
The project was supposed to be spread over an area more than and would combine various commercial, residential, educational and leisure amenities with entertainment facilities, apartments, villas, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, health clubs and spas, and schools and parks. In addition, there are plans for a theme park that would cover an area of more than four million square feet. The original concept was developed by an American architect and thought for Fujairah. Meanwhile, this development, among many others, was stopped in April 2009 due to the economic crisis.
