In the Farmers' Science Congress farmers present their innovations and inventions before an audience consisting of a cross section of scientists, extension functionaries and farmers. It is conceived on the premise that answers to many agronomic questions can be found in the collective experience of farming communities.
KVK creates history
The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kannur made history by pioneering the Farmers’ Science Congress. The first ever congress was inaugurated by Sri. K.R. Viswambharan, the honourable vice chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University at a brief but model function. The farmers, who were the key players of the two day historic event were overwhelmed with excitement. The powerpoint presentation of farmer scientists, characterized by spontaneous free flow was listened to by the attendees with stunning silence and loud admiration. Hundreds thronged to see the scientifically arranged stylish exhibition of farmers’ inventions.
