Prince Fawwaz bin Abdul-Aziz (1934- July 22, 2008) was a senior member of the Saudi royal family. He was Governor of Riyadh from 1960-1961 and was part of the Free Princes Movement from 1962-1964. He served as Governor of Makkah from 1971-80 for which he was removed from office after the 1979 Grand Mosque Seizure. In 2006, he was one of the founding member of the Bayah Council.

Family and business

He was the son of King Abdul-Aziz and Bazza. His only full brother is Prince Bandar bin Abdul-Aziz. He only had an adopted son who could not replace him in the Bayah Council.

He had a wide range of business activities related to property development in the kingdom.


Fawwaz died in Paris on July 22, 2008, at the age of 74, after suffering from a disease. His funeral was held in the Holy Mosque in Makkah on the following day. Condolence messages were sent to King Abdullah, the Saudi government and the Saudi Royal Family from the King of Bahrain, Hamad ibn Isa Al Khalifah,, the Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa, and his heir apparent, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
