Part of the city of Westerville is located in southern Genoa Township.
The Highland Lakes and Medallion areas constitute a significant portion of the largely developed southern portion of the township. The northern half of Genoa Township is still generally rural, but beginning to be developed as well. Genoa Township is one of the fastest growing areas near Columbus.
Name and history
Named after the hometown of Christopher Columbus, it is the only Genoa Township statewide. Unlike its namesake, the township's name is pronounced with the stress on the second syllable, as ge-NO-a.
Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
