Guru Har Sahai

Demographics

India census, Guru Har Sahai had a population of 14,528. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Guru Har Sahai has an average literacy rate of 61%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 57%. In Guru Har Sahai, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Administration

Guruharsahai is a village and is thus represented by a Municipality system of governance. A Municipality is the smallest administrative subdivision where each village is responsible for its own affairs, as the foundation of India's political system. History

This place was a waste tract between the territories occupied by the Barars and Dogars, who were constantly quarrelling over its possession. About two centuries ago, one day Jiwan Mal came and pitched his tent upon this waste. He belonged to a Sodhi family, seventh in descent from the celebrated Guru Ram Das.
