You do not need protein shakes. So many people believe that having a protein shake is a good way to halt cravings when it isn't meal time. The truth is that when you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overload your system with protein. Contrary to popular thinking, protein isn't going to get stored as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This implies that should you have taken in too much protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.
