{We all know that the best foods for our weight loss plans are lean meats, whole grains and healthy fats.

We all understand that the best foods to consume when we want to lose weight are healthy fats, whole grains and lean meats. These will be the food items which will give us the energy and protein we need. They help our bodies remain balanced without infusing a variety of calories that we have to work extra hard to burn off at the gym. Are you aware, however, that some of the foods you've been thinking are good for your diet program could actually be making you retain weight? They may be preventing you from losing weight altogether! Here are some of the foods that may be undermining your diet efforts.

Sports Drinks do not really help you. You've almost certainly been told that if you need to help your body replenish itself after a work out, you should drink a sports drink. Most physicians agree, however, that if your exercise routine is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are packed with sugar and calories and a massive amount of other things you don't need including artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Try having some chocolate milk as a substitute. The sugar in chocolate will help your muscles start to fix themselves plus the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

You do not need protein shakes. So many people believe that having a protein shake is a good way to halt cravings when it isn't meal time. The truth is that when you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overload your system with protein. Contrary to popular thinking, protein isn't going to get stored as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This implies that should you have taken in too much protein during the day your body stores what it doesn't need in your fat, which won't help you lose weight or inches at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn't very healthy at all. It's typically thought that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread along with lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The simple fact is that pre-packaged deli meat is crammed full of preservatives and about a third of your advised daily sodium intake. This might be particularly bothersome if you are prone to heart disease. Instead of purchasing the pre-packaged stuff, you need to instead use home cooked poultry or freshly sliced meat from your grocery store's deli counter. Yes you will shell out more money for these choices but you will be healthier if you choose them. Backwoods Smoker

There are many things that we believe are much healthier than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask your doctor precisely what the best methods for you to eat healthfully are and then follow those directions. If you give consideration and are mindful about which kind of food you let yourself eat, losing weight isn't going to be a terribly big deal.
