It is the administrative headquarter of the district. The name literally means the "Town of Courage". The town is situated on the bank of the river Hathmati.Himatnagar was named after the King Himmat Singh. There are two palaces in the town of the King Himmat Singh. Motipura, Mehtapura, Mahavirnagar, Pologround are major areas, Navratri, Diwali, Ramzan and Uttrayan are the biggest festivals of the town. It is also believed that the "Agnihotri Shala" was established near Himatnagar during the time of Mahabharata.
