It has an exciting history in the beginning of most car companies, and Porsche is no different. Porsche was started off by an important man for Germany's unified armed forces named Ferdinand Porsche.

The tales of how car manufacturers began are always exciting and Porsche is no different. Porsche was begun by an important person for Germany's unified armed forces named Ferdinand Porsche. He played out a crucial role with creating racing cars, tanks and airplanes. He engineered over a thousand patents as an auto engineer and was the chief engineer for Mercedez-Benz in the course of the 1920's. Right after Porsche left Mercedez-Benz, he setup an engineering workshop and also constructed the Volkswagen. He was chief of operations at Wolfsburg, the plant where by Volkswagens were made, and was interned there by the Allies at the end of the war.

A few years after he was released, Ferdinand Porsche and his son, Ferry, started building the Porsche 356. The sports car was built with a rear-mounted, four-cylinder boxer engine that was very much like the Volkswagen. However, the car got a maximum speed of 87 mph so it was not a really powerful sports car. Although it was not a speed demon, the car possessed a very stylish and innovative design as a convertible and, later, as a hard top. The Porsche 356 was developed at a workshop which was possessed by a master of streamlined auto production named Erwin Komenda. Komenda worked well along side with Porsche at Volkswagen and was a crucial person for design techniques and sheet metal.

Komenda created the fashionable closed coupe referred to as the fastback, which took over as symbol of the european sports car. Together with Porsche's grandson, Komenda pushed forward using fastback design by creating the Porsche 911. The 911 had been a gorgeous sports car equipped with frog eye headlights, straight waistline, a sloping bonnet and curves running from the windscreen to the rear bumper. Even though the style was much like the first Porsche, technically, it was more like the BMW 1500. Though the design was not easily appreciated initially, the 911 took over as identity of Porsche.

The company almost was destroyed, when the new designers in the 1970s and 1980s attempted to move away from its legendary design. Cars like the 928 and the 924, which were equally co-developed with Volkswagen, did not capture the imagination of the auto industry. In the 1990s the business, learned from 20 years of being distinctive, became highly profitable mainly because they realized that Porsche's typical aspects were timeless. Further developments of the long-running 911 now were being done by almost forty people in the model department. The 911 GTI is certainly one example, which had been went by Porsche's in-house designer, Anthony R Hatter. It is an awesome combination of racing prowess and sports car sensibilities.

In 1999, the new Boxster presented Porsche another independent variety of models. As typical of numerous car companies, Porsche was able to weather many heavy storms to the point of close to collapse, only to return more robust than ever. They were able to succeed at a transitional moment in the auto industry where main car companies were losing money and going bankrupt.
