The
Hull Daily Mail is the local daily
newspaper for
Kingston upon Hull,
East Riding of Yorkshire and is published along with the free weekly,
Hull Advertiser. There used to be a weekly sports paper, the
SportsMail, but this folded in 2006. The Hull Daily Mail has been circulated in various guises since 1885.
The paper is owned by
Northcliffe Media, one of the largest regional publishers in the UK, and owned by the
Associated Newspapers, publisher of the
Daily Mail,
Mail on Sunday, and the Metro free daily paper.
The
Hull Daily Mail is produced every day of the week except for Sunday and has a readership of around 170,000. A sister paper, the
East Riding Mail, was introduced fairly recently to focus on stories from Hull's surroundings.

Awards
The newspaper has won the award for Yorkshire Daily Newspaper of the Year four times, in 2003,It has also won accolades for its pioneering work in video journalism, reports available via its website, thisishullandeastriding.co.uk.
Disputes and scandals
In 2005, the paper became embroiled in a dispute with then chairman of
Hull City A.F.C.,
Adam Pearson, over news reports on local radio station
