IMAX Corporation

IMAX Corporation (; ) is a Canadian theatre company which designs and manufactures IMAX cameras and projection systems as well as film development, production, post production and distribution to IMAX affiliated theatres worldwide. It was founded in 1968 as a result of Expo 67 in Montreal. It holds operations in Toronto, as well as New York City and Los Angeles.

As of September 2010, IMAX theatre network consisted of 445+ theatres (IMAX, IMAX 3D and IMAX Dome) in more than 47 countries. According to a Yahoo Finance online article, Sony may be interested in acquiring the movie theatre chain within a said time however, there hasn't been any official statements between representatives from Sony or IMAX, the shares of IMAX had soared because of this rumour.

3D Television Network

On January 5, 2010, IMAX announced a joint venture partnership with Sony and Discovery Communications to develop the first 24/7 dedicated 3D television network in the US. Sony, through its U.S. affiliate, Sony Corporation of America, Discovery Communications, and IMAX each were equal partners in the venture.
