Important News And Happenings At Turkish Airlines
The few years prior to World War II saw the beginning of operations for Turkish Airlines, more specifically in May of 1933. Four planes with a total capacity of 23 passengers marked the humble beginnings of this company. Their fleet did not see another plane until 1945. Currently, they took reception of a Boeing 777-300ER, the first of twelve, that is the most advanced intercontinental airplane. The company has become more and more profitable over the past five years, largely due to their aggressive route expansion strategy. There has been significant development of the company since the days when its fleet was comprised of four small aircraft, with Turkish Airlines having learned some critical lessons along the way.
In October 2010, Turkish Airlines told the world that it would continue its plants to expand during 2011. Quite naturally, for an airline that is growing extremely fast, this is sensational news. The Turkish Ministry of Transport released the news of eleven new destinations this year. There will be four flights a week to Shiraz, Iran starting in the middle of March. As for the US, in early March we'll see four weekly flights to Los Angeles, California. This is good news if you are going to the west cost of the US. Added countries consist of China, Greece, Spain, France and 3 locations in Italy. Finalizing negotiations in October, 2010, Manchester Unites, the English soccer team, and Turkish Airlines signed a contract spanning three years. Manchester United will partner with Turkish Airlines for a TV commercial that is meant to position the airline as a great means of travel for business-class passengers. There are many reasons that both sides find this a great project. The new series of ads will show some of the most well-known players enjoying all the perks of traveling business class with Turkish Airlines.
The airline is also consolidating the rewards programs together into a single account for both Mile & Smiles family members and Elite Plus members. Essentially, the Elite Plus members will enjoy greater convenience because their earned miles will be located in a single account.
Any miles earned will also apply to family members of account holders too. Members can accumulate more miles by simply booking flights with any airline within the Star Alliance partnership, or using a Miles & Smiles credit card to pay for purchases.
Since Turkish Airlines has had a run of robust and profitable seasons complete with ever-higher profits, they are in a prime position to do what all businesses need to do. We think that this company is moving very quickly is very capable of overtaking the markets in global aviation and flight travel.
