Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior

The Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (, IIITM Gwalior, IIITM-G) is a deemed university and the first Indian Institute of Information Technology established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 1997. It is located in the city of Gwalior, in the northern part of the state of Madhya Pradesh, India.

IIITM Gwalior was ranked 25th by Outlook-MDRA, in a survey of Top 50 Engineering Colleges in India in 2010. It also secured 38th position in MBA survey done by in 2010. In the same year IIITM Gwalior got A++ grade both in Engineering as well as in MBA from Outlook and Business India respectively. Further this college aims high to get position under top colleges.

Committee

In 1992, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) set-up a committee under the chairmanship of Dr. P G Reddy. The team reviewed the scenario in the country with regard to software education and training. It was identified that the total manpower need for the software development, domestic and export, was of the order of 570,000 personnel in 1996 to meet a target of software export of Rs. 10,000 crores. Against this the formal educational system produced only 120,000 personnel. The team recommended setting up of Advanced Information System Institutes on the pattern of IITs and IIMs in the country.
