Jakarta Canisius College is a Catholic school in Jakarta, Indonesia. Established in 1927 by a group of Jesuit pastors, it is listed as a Jesuit School. The school only accepts male students. Canisius College is in the elite suburb of Menteng, Central Jakarta.
Mottos and values
The school has adopted several mottoes:
Men for and with others
Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam (For the Greater Glory of God)
Competence, Conscience, and Compassion (commonly known as "3C" in the school)
The values which are represented by the mottoes are mostly adopted from Jesuit values.
The school is led by a Rector who oversees the Senior and Junior High School Directors (Principals). Each principal has three vice principals, one each for Curricular Affairs, General Affairs, and Student Affairs, the last more commonly known as the Moderator. The Rector, Directors, and Moderators are usually Jesuit Pastors.
Early Period (1927-1931)
October 26th, 1926 : Canisius College was established with Father Kurris SJ as the first Board Director.
June 1st, 1927 : 1st AMS Class (Algemenee Middlebare School) opened.
July 1st, 1929 : Dormitory Building, Hall, and Tennis Court completed.
October 26th, 1931 : Father Van Hoof SJ was appointed as the first rector.
Progress Period (1931-1952)
1931 : The establishment of Canisius College’s Vision and Mission as the basic education.
1931 : The birth of a lot of student’s extras : Orchestra, Choir, Magazine......
