Jam On is a
Jam Bands radio station on
Sirius Satellite Radio channel 29 (previously 81),
XM Satellite Radio channel 29 (previously 56) and
Dish Network channel 6081. It has featured basketball player
Bill Walton hosting a
Grateful Dead show,
hippie icon Wavy Gravy, and pedal steel player
Buddy Cage as a DJ. It was formed in 2003 by Sirius VP Joel Salkowitz and programmer Lenny Bloch. The original DJ's were Jonathan Schwartz, Stef Scamardo, and Adam Foley.
By fall
2010, Sirius XM moved Jam On to channel 81 on the Sirius side to make room for
Pearl Jam Radio on channel 17. However, Sirius tuners still list channel 81 under the old Cinemagic name, although from
2009-2010, that was
The Strobe on Sirius 81.
Regular Programming
Every weekday at 9:00 pm ET the station airs a full set from a live
Phish concert. The program is called Gone Phishin' and is replayed several hours later at 2:00 am ET.
Marc Brownstein of
The Disco Biscuits hosts a program called Jamtronica every Friday evening at midnight ET. It is replayed on Sundays at 2:00 am ET.
Dave Matthews Band Radio
Between 2009-06-01 and 2009-06-08, the channel featured the music of rock band
Dave Matthews Band 24/7 as well exclusive interviews. This temporarily pre-empted normal programming on the channel.
