The Jamaat-e-Islami Kashmir is the Cadre based religio-political organization in J & K which is distinct from the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, the Indian branch of the Jamaat, to emphasize the organisation's stance that Jammu and Kashmir is not a part of India. Although the common folk within the Islamic fold in J & K, held strongly to the basics-belief in one and only God the messenger-Prophet Mohammad and the message enshrined in the holy book Al Quran, religiosity was limited to traditional prayer and the rituals associated with religion.
