James Lumbers Prints - TITANIC DEPARTURE Painting by James Lumbers - Noon hour, April 10, 1912 was to develop into a legendary time in history for The Titanic. Henry Abbott was resting on his front terrace enjoying lunch in the hot spring sunlight. His friend Seymour was ready for a few scraps that might come his way. A Skylark on the terrace voiced its delight, being warmed by the spring sun. Suddenly a deep blast from the Titanic`s whistle shattered the delicate noises of nature as The Titanic departed from Southampton for the open sea. Henry picked up his binoculars and observed as The Titanic disappeared into the horizon. It was her "àu revoir".

James Lumbers Prints - THE TITANIC DEPARTURE collector giclee is a good illustration of James Lumbers nostalgic style of artwork. Well known for his nostalgic paintings, James Lumbers is also an accomplished portrait and wildlife artist. After graduating from The Ontario College of Art, James Lumbers labored for numerous years in Toronto. In 1969 a chance came to travel to the far north to paint polar bears in their normal habitat with a crowd of scientists. Over a 10-year period, theme matter expanded to documenting Native Peoples of the north.
In 1973 James lumbers was elected a Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York and he also started to be a member of the Society of Animal Artists of New York. James Lumbers is documented in Who's Who in American Art and a Dictionary of International Biographies in the UK.
Through the late 70's James Lumbers was accepted as one of Canada's foremost realist painters. Many exhibitions of his artwork proceeded across the country and into the United States. His collections is incorporated in numerous collections in Canada and throughout the world.

Having sketched the terrace of an abandoned home, James Lumbers found a diary with old photographs beneath a floorboard. The diary provided details of the images taken in 1913 from the same position as the sketch was completed. Later turned into a painting, it appeared valid to supplement the people as ghostly figures of ancient times with the birdbath of the present day. This painting progressed into a career that has spanned over 35 years producing "Moments in Time". James Lumbers clear awareness of Canadian History is mirrored in much of his collections.
