James Lumbers Prints - TITANIC DEPARTURE Limited Edition Giclee by James Lumbers - It was approximately noon on April 10, 1912 and it was to develop into a unforgettable time in history for The Titanic.. Henry Abbott was enjoying a sandwich and cup of tea for lunch. His companion Seymour was set for some scraps that might approach his way. A Skylark on the porch expressed its pleasure, being warmed by the spring sunlight. All of a sudden a deep sound from the Titanic`s whistle shattered the subtle sounds of nature as The Titanic departed from Southampton for the wide open sea. Henry grabbed his binoculars and watched as The Titanic disappeared into the distance. It was her "àu revoir".

James Lumbers Prints - THE TITANIC DEPARTURE limited edition is a great example of James Lumbers memory style of artwork. Best known for his nostalgic paintings, James Lumbers is also an legendary portrait and wildlife artist. After graduating from The Ontario College of Art, James Lumbers labored for several years in Toronto. In1969 a chance came to travel to the far north to paint polar bears in their natural habitat surrounding Hudson Bay. Over a 10-year period, subject matter expanded to documenting Native Peoples of the north.
In 1973 James lumbers was elected a Fellow of the Explorers Club of New York and he also became a member of the Society of Animal Artists of New York. James Lumbers is listed in Who's Who in American Art and a Dictionary of International Biographies in the UK.
By the late 70's James Lumbers was accepted as one of Canada's leading realists Artists, taking part in various exhibitions in Canada and the United States. With his unique approach, James Lumbers has painted a few of the worlds celebrated Sports Heroes, Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzsky and Joe Montana. He also painted John Diefenbaker, Chief Dan George, Sir Edmund Hillary and Sir Andrew Davis with The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and several others from countless walks of life.

His method of painting brought international acknowledgment to James Lumbers. It all started on an island in Georgian Bay. Having sketched the porch of an abandoned house, James Lumbers found a diary with old photos beneath a floorboard. The diary described the photos taken in 1913 from the similar location as the sketch was done. Afterward turned into a painting, it seemed suitable to add the people as ghostly images of the past with the birdbath of the present day. This painting evolved into a career that has spanned over 35 years producing "Moments in Time". James Lumbers strong sense of Canadian History is reflected in a lot of his paintings.
