Description:
John Hart Terry (November 14, 1924 – October 20, 2001) was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from New York.

Terry was born in Syracuse, New York and graduated from Most Holy Rosary in 1941. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1945 and received a law degree from Syracuse University in 1948. He served in the United States Army from 1943 until 1946 and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service during World War II. He served on the Onondaga County Board of Supervisors from 1948 until 1958. He was assistant secretary to the Governor of New York from 1959 until 1961. He was a member of the New York State Assembly from 1963 until 1970. He was elected to Congress in 1970 and served from January 3, 1971 until January 3, 1973.

He was married to C. Jean Terry and had 3 daughters; Lynn, Susan and M.Carole.
