John Timothy Power (born 14 September 1967) is an English singer, songwriter and musician from
Liverpool,
England. Originally the bassist for
The La's, Power went on to achieve great commercial success with
Cast.
Following the split of Cast in 2001, John Power has had an active solo career with albums such as
Happening for Love (2003),
Willow She Weeps (2006) and
Stormbreaker (2008).
History
Prior to Cast, Power was also the
bass guitarist with
The La's, who had success in 1990 with their
hit single, "
There She Goes", and their
eponymous album.After leaving The La's in 1991 to form Cast, with whom he sung, played
guitar and
wrote songs, after four
albums and a string of hit singles, Cast split in 2002.
Following the split, Power released the
John Leckie produced
solo album,
Happening for Love in June 2003. Following these gigs and with no sign of new La's material, Power returned to his solo career.
