Juninho, Portuguese for "little Junior", is a common nickname for footballers whose full name includes Júnior. It is often combined with an epithet, sometimes a demonym (a word derived from their place of origin) to distinguish them from other players with the same nickname, as shown in several of the following examples.
Juninho Fonseca (born 1958, Alcides Fonseca Júnior), defender, Ponte Preta & Corinthians, 1982 World Cup
Juninho Paulista (born 1973, Osvaldo Giroldo Júnior), midfielder, São Paulo, Middlesbrough, Atletico Madrid, Sydney FC and 2002 World Cup
Juninho Petrolina (born 1974, Hamilton Timbira Dias Santos Júnior), offensive midfielder, Sport Recife & Beira Mar
Juninho Pernambucano (born 1975, Antônio Augusto Ribeiro Reis Júnior), attacking midfielder, Vasco da Gama, Olympique Lyonnais & Al Gharafa, 2006 World Cup
