K. S. Eshwarappa (born July 10, 1948) is a senior
politician in
Karnataka state in
India. He is the president of
Bharatiya Janata Party state unit from 2010.
He was the Minister of power in the BJP Government headed by Sri B.S.Yeddyurappa. In the BJP-JDS coalition Government headed by H.D.Kumaraswamy, he was Minister for Water Resources Department.
K.S.Eshwarappa was born in
Bellary. His father,late Sri Sharanappa moved to Shimoga in the early 1950s. He worked in Bhoopalam Areca Mandi and even his mother worked in the same Mandi as a daily wage worker. When Eshwarappa also tried to go to the Mandi to work with his parents his mother slapped him and told him that he should learn and become a big man and earn a good name in society. That was the inspiration he got in his early days which eventually led him to theposition he has now.
He completed his Commerce Graduation from
Nation Commerce College, Shimoga. While he was studying he become the students' union leader. That was his first social election. He used to play kho kho and football in his school days. He was also a singer in his early days. He had a good batch of students as his classmates and one amongst them was Sri Da.Ma.Ravindra who later became Prant Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (R.S.S).
