<!-- See WikiProject Indian cities for details -->Kallur() is a village in Pulicherla Mandal in the Chittoor District of the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. It lies 45 kilometers north of Chittoor and 10 kilometers south of Pileru and 54 kilometers south west of Tirupati on the NH(National Highway)18.

The famous Kanipakam with swayam bhuva vinayaka idol is 45&nbsp;km away from Kallur. The Ayyappa swami temple (10&nbsp;km away on Punganur road)and Lord shiva temple(6&nbsp;km away in pulicherla) are also good temples to visit.

It is a junction point connecting the important towns Punganur, Tirupati, Chittoor and Piler in the district. The closest railway station is Piler, 10&nbsp;km away. It is an economic center for many villages surrounding it. The town has a high percentage of Muslims who coexist peacefully along with their Hindu neighbors. Kallur is famous for Tomato, Banana and retail market. Jaggery is also available.

Etymology

The word Kallur is a combination of two Tamil words Kal+Ur which means Vilage of Stones in Tamil language. This place is important for its granite stones. In ancient days, this region was part of Tamil country of Thondai.it is also famous for poultry business
